3 Easy Ways To See Delicate Arch Without Hiking to It

Without going to Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, there are three simple ways to observe it. Surprisingly, most visitors to Arches National Park think that hiking to Delicate Arch is the only way to view it. While this may be the ideal way to experience it, some individuals may not be able to do so for various reasons.

The Delicate Arch trek is 3.2 miles roundtrip and takes approximately 134 hours to accomplish, not including time spent viewing the arch. Furthermore, with a 629-foot elevation rise, even young fit hikers may find it quite difficult. Especially during the summer, when temperatures may frequently approach 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Delicate Arch Trail: A Quick Overview

From the trailhead, the trip to Delicate Arch is completely uphill. Furthermore, unless you’re walking in the early morning hours before dawn, hikers should expect the trail to be quite busy. As a result, don’t be surprised to have to wait 15-30 minutes for your group to get an exclusive/uncrowded photo opportunity at the arch.” alt=”” width=”1024″ height=”768″ data-ez=”” data-ezsrc=”http://imagegod.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/3-Easy-Ways-To-See-Delicate-Arch-Without-Hiking-to.jpg” />The last time we visited Arches NP, we had the time to hike to Delicate Arch. During our latest trip, we decided to explore other areas of the park.

The track hits a 19 percent gradient about 1.0 mile into the trip, most of it through exposed Slickrock with little shade. Furthermore, the last 0.3 kilometers are on a ledge that is barely three feet wide, with a sheer vertical wall on the right and a sharp and perilous drop-off on the left. Congestion in this location may add to the difficulties, tension, and danger.

Budget Tip: A night’s stay in Moab may easily cost hundreds of dollars. We stayed at The Virginian Motel in downtown Moab to save money. The basic lodging was in a fantastic location, was clean, and had just been updated. We spent $73 on a Saturday night over spring break and thought we got a great deal.

It’s fascinating to watch Delicate Arch from numerous vantage points, regardless of physical ability. The many vantage points provide a unique perspective from which to examine the arch. —Budget-conscious travelers

Delicate Arch will emerge for the first and only time on the walk after circling around the cliff. To put it another way, the arch is concealed throughout the trek until the very end.

Walkers should budget about $212 to finish the trek. This includes time to finish the walk, take photographs, and perhaps have a snack.

Tip: Because camera phone photos will be severely pixilated from all angles, investing in the Nikon COOLPIX P1000 may be useful. The P1000 is by far the greatest travel-size wildlife camera on the market, with a 125x zoom; photographers have even used it to capture the space station from Earth!

Before we departed for the hike, we didn’t realize it would get this narrow. This is the most dangerous area along the trail, especially during congested times.

Why Shouldn’t You Hike to Delicate Arch?

There are various reasons why visitors to Arches National Park would choose to only see Delicate Arch rather than trek to it. Visitors may, for example, have:

  • Having a handicap (permanent or temporary)
  • Time limits (for example, park closures or delayed entrance)
  • Concerns about the weather (e.g. ice, heat, etc.)
  • In the group, there are either little children or elderly.

In any event, there are three simple ways to see Delicate Arch without having to hike to it. Surprisingly, many first-time visitors are unaware that Delicate Arch has an official perspective. During our tour of the park, we also discovered two more readily accessible roadside overlooks that no one knows about.

Without hiking to Delicate Arch, there are three simple ways to see it.

Countless tourists to Arches National Park think that in order to view Delicate Arch, they must trek there. This is a pure fabrication. Delicate Arch has three perspectives, all of which require no or no walking.

1. Viewpoint from the Lower Delicate Arch

Lower Delicate Arch viewpoint is located at the end of Delicate Arch Rd, just past the Delicate Arch trailhead parking lot. Technically, there are both the lower and upper viewpoints, however, the upper is a 1.0-mile roundtrip journey. On the other hand, the lower is an easy, and flat, 300-foot stroll from the parking lot.” alt=”” width=”768″ height=”1024″ data-ez=”” data-ezsrc=”http://imagegod.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/1648589717_485_3-Easy-Ways-To-See-Delicate-Arch-Without-Hiking-to.jpg” />From the lower viewpoint, Delicate Arch is easily viewable. However, this picture was taken with a phone, and when zooming in, the image became a bit pixelated.

This viewpoint will provide tourists with the finest perspective of the three simple ways to observe Delicate Arch without going to it. You may even be able to spot other members of your party who made the trip to the arch if you have a decent set of binoculars.

This perspective is wheelchair accessible and ideal for anybody who can get out of their car and walk roughly 300 feet. Along the journey, there are a few of fascinating interpretative signs.

Viewpoint: Arches National Park Rd.

Along Arches Nat’l Pk Rd, heading towards Delicate Arch, there’s a pull-off about 500 feet before Delicate Arch Rd. From this location, the arch is about 2.5 miles away. You’ll definitely, want to use a good pair of binoculars like the Healsun binoculars that come with a phone adapter, which will allow you to take amazing photos. Also, binoculars will help in enjoying other scenic viewpoints and wildlife across the park.” alt=”” width=”1024″ height=”768″ data-ez=”” data-ezsrc=”http://imagegod.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/1648589722_101_3-Easy-Ways-To-See-Delicate-Arch-Without-Hiking-to.jpg” />Using the digital zoom on our point-and-shoot camera, we’re able to examine the arch much easier, however, the picture is a bit pixelated.

This angle of view is ideal for those who are unable or unwilling to depart their automobiles. Finally, this is the second-closest vantage point of the three ways to see Delicate Arch without going there.

3. Rd Viewpoints in Windows

While heading into the park, simply turn right on the first road past Balanced Rock. It’s called Windows Rd., and guides vehicles towards the Windows Trailhead, i.e., Parade of Elephants, North/South Window Arch, and Turret Arch.” alt=”” width=”1024″ height=”768″ data-ez=”” data-ezsrc=”http://imagegod.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/1648589723_521_3-Easy-Ways-To-See-Delicate-Arch-Without-Hiking-to.jpg” />Along Windows Rd., Delicate Arch is about 5 miles away!

There are two pull-offs on the left side of the road after going into Windows Rd. They’re around 0.25 to 0.50 miles down the road from you.

” alt=”” width=”1024″ height=”768″ data-ez=”” data-ezsrc=”http://imagegod.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/1648589724_27_3-Easy-Ways-To-See-Delicate-Arch-Without-Hiking-to.jpg” />From this distance, our point-and-shoot camera is heavily pixelated. This would be the ideal time to have the Nikon COOLPIX P1000, with a 125x zoom, the picture would be crisp!

The Windows Rd. perspectives are the farthest vantage spots from Delicate Arch, at around 5 kilometers. Observers may also be required to leave their automobiles and walk 90 feet north, towards Delicate Arch, to get these vistas.

Tip: As you go along Windows Rd., the views of Delicate Arc will improve more more, while the arch remains visible.

Without walking to Delicate Arch, it’s worth checking out all three options. Visitors may get an intriguing view from any angle; just remember to bring a good pair of binoculars.
