Robert Doino: Paris to Palm Springs.

@ maimano.hu

This major exhibition is held in the Hungarian House of Photography (Mai Manó Ház) in the center of Pest until the 10th anniversary of the birth of the Hungarian National Gallery. January 2021.
In 1960 the American magazine Fortune asked the French photographer Robert Doynot (1912-1994) to tell the story of a city born in the middle of the Californian desert: Palm Springs. There the photographer created his own American dream, not in black and white, but in an explosion of colour. These pictures from the Palm Springs album from 1960 show the little known side of this great photographer.

From Paris to Palm Springs, the exhibition presents a hundred original images, famous paintings, but also images that the public has never seen before. Most come from his studio and from important private collections in France. This extensive collection, enriched with documents and personal testimonies lovingly collected by the photographer’s daughter, offers us a modern and critical reinterpretation of the work.
