Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Carnival Sunshine, arrived at PortMiami after a journey from the shipyard. While the Sunshine is the first Carnival ship to be built outside of the United States, it’s not the first time the company has built a ship abroad. Carnival began constructing the first Carnival ship in the United Kingdom in 2000, and has since built four additional ships in the country.
Despite the lack of rain in the past month, the PortMiami ship channel is still in good condition. The Carnival Inspiration, a 1,600-passenger ship that set sail from Galveston, Texas on January 12, arrived at the PortMiami cruise ship terminal this afternoon after a journey of about 2,600 miles. Carnival officials said the ship had sailed without problems.
Carnival Corporation has completed its long-awaited dry-dock overhaul at its Miami shipyard, which had been plagued by equipment issues. The 2,000-foot-long ship, named “Carnival Conquest”, is the first Carnival ship to undergo the extensive repairs after an earlier mishap in July 2015 led to the loss of 9 lives.
Carnival Valor has returned from dry dock in South France to the United States with a new appearance, new livery, and required improvements. On September 1, the ship arrived at PortMiami and docked in the early morning hours.
Despite the fact that she is not part of Carnival Cruise Line’s immediate restart plans, the ship is set to return to service in November. She already has the new Carnival livery that is being rolled out throughout the whole fleet. One that was originally displayed on the company’s newest ship, Mardi Gras.
Fleetwide Updates on a Continuous Basis
Carnival Cruise Line has recently made significant progress in restoring its fleet. The cruise company announced a few months ago that all of its ships will be removing their signature white hulls with red lettering. Instead, the magnificent decorations seen during Mardi Gras would be applied to all ships in the fleet.
The new hull design, which is inspired by the Carnival funnel’s distinctive hues and deep blue officer uniforms, will be implemented throughout the fleet in the next months and perhaps longer.
During the epidemic, Carnival Cruise Line was chastised for having several cruise ships that appeared rusted while on hold due to the worldwide stoppage of operations.
The new livery design is a refreshing change, and Carnival Valor is one of the first ships to get it. Carnival Magic, Carnival Glory, and Carnival Dream all got new liveries earlier this year.

The Carnival Valor’s dry dock was not extensive; in addition to the new livery, the ship got many improvements to the hotel spaces and received routine maintenance. The last dry dock for the Carnival Valor occurred in 2016, when the cruise company installed venues such as Guy’s Burger Joint and the Alchemy Bar.

On July 28, the dry dock in Marseilles, France, was finished, and the ship sailed to Gibraltar, where we got our first glimpse at the new-look ship courtesy to photographs by Tony Davis. On August 8, the Carnival Valor sailed from the harbor to PortMiami, Florida, the world’s cruise capital.
When Is She Going to Set Sail?
The ship is not included in the cruise line’s original intentions to relaunch its fleet of ships. The ship will, however, sail in the later phases of the cruise line’s relaunch plans.
Currently, the 110,000 gross ton ship, which has a passenger capacity of 2,980 at double occupancy and 1,180 foreign staff members, is set to begin sailings on November 1st. Her maiden cruise will be a five-day Western Caribbean trip that will take her from New Orleans to Cozumel and Yucatán (Progreso), with a sea day at each end.

Carnival Cruise Line, on the other hand, has been tight-lipped on what will happen with the remaining ships as the year progresses.
Carnival Corporation, the cruise line’s parent company, said in one of its quarterly investor briefings that the cruise line planned to sail with its full fleet by the end of the year. For the time being, we’ll have to wait for updates from Brand Ambassador John Heald, who has promised them in the coming days.
