Carnival Cruise Line will be launching its new ship, Carnival Spirit, on the Gulf of Mexico. It is not yet clear where exactly in Alabama the cruise line plans to berth (will it dock at Mobile?). The new vessel has a capacity for up to 2,800 passengers and will feature a newly designed interior that includes more interactive areas with holographic technology.

The “mobile, al cruise schedule 2022” is a cruise line that will start sailing from Mobile in the fall of 2023.

Carnival Spirit to Begin Sailing From Mobile, Alabama in Fall 2023

Carnival Cruise Line announced at a “Back to Fun” event in the Port of Mobile, Alabama, that Carnival Spirit would be based there starting in the autumn of 2023. Carnival Ecstasy will begin sailings from Mobile for the first time in two years, according to the report.

Mobile, Alabama’s Carnival Spirit

It was a historic day for the Port of Mobile, Alabama, on Saturday, when Carnival Ecstasy relaunched Carnival’s service from the city after a two-year hiatus. The cruise company also revealed its future plans for sailings from Mobile at the ceremony.

With the Carnival Spirit, the cruise company will launch a new seasonal six- and eight-day cruise schedule. The new product will be available from October 6, 2023, through March 30, 2024.

The Spirit-class ship will visit Bimini, Half Moon Cay, and Mahogany Bay, among other ports of call, on its way to the eastern and western Caribbean. On March 9, 2022, reservations for the sailings will be available.

“We are dedicated to our continuous partnership with Mobile, which is why we are pleased to return to the excitement with Carnival Ecstasy and look forward to Carnival Spirit’s arrival in 2023,” said Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy. “Aside from the fact that Carnival Spirit is a bigger and larger ship for Mobile, which means even more enjoyment on board, Spirit’s new itineraries will let our visitors to see new and lovely places.”

It was previously unknown which ship will operate from the port in the future, but the cooperation between Carnival Cruise Line and Mobile, which began in 2002, will continue.

“Cruises from Mobile have attracted numerous tourists to our city from around the Southeast for more than a decade, boosting our hotels, restaurants, attractions, and dozens of other local companies in the surrounding area,” said Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson. “Simply stated, without a cruise ship in its port, Mobile’s economy cannot reach its full potential.” We’ve enjoyed a terrific connection with Carnival Cruise Line for many years, and we look forward to many more as we commemorate Ecstasy’s departure today.”

Cruises will resume from their current location.

The specifics of the future plan for Carnival cruises out of Mobile were revealed at a special “Back to Fun” and 50th Birthday launch event, which coincided with the return of the Carnival Ecstasy to the port for the first time in two years.

The Fantasy-class cruise ship set out from Mobile on Saturday for a five-day Western Caribbean trip that includes a stop in Cozumel, Mexico. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, which formally welcomes the first passengers back on board, was held by Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy and Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson to honor the restart and the sailabration journey to kick off Carnival Cruise Line’s 50th Birthday celebrations.

“We’ve missed seeing that iconic funnel in our downtown skyline and welcoming cruisers from all over the country to Mobile these past two years,” said David Clark, president and CEO of Visit Mobile. “We’re so ready to get Back to Fun as our partner, Carnival Cruise Line, returns to the Port of Mobile.”

Carnival Ecstasy departs from the port on four- and five-day Western Caribbean cruises until October 10, 2022. Cozumel is visited on the four-day excursions, while Costa Maya or Progreso is visited on the five-day journeys.

A one-time 10-day Carnival Journeys trip will also be offered on September 10, 2022. Key West, Grand Turk, Amber Cove, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel are all included in the voyage.

Carnival Ecstasy will depart the fleet in October after serving from Mobile. The ship’s destiny remains unknown, however it is hoped that she will be sold to a different operator rather than being demolished like her sister’s ships.

Carnival Cruise Line is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and the celebrations have begun. On March 7, on Carnival Ecstasy’s first voyage return, there will be an unique ship rendezvous between Cozumel and Costa Maya with six other ships in the fleet.

Carnival has been making progress with its restart of operations, and all of its year-round US homeports will be operational on March 7. By the end of the summer, the whole fleet will be sailing again.
