Carnival Cruise Line is not developing itineraries entirely outside the United States, as some other lines are doing, President Christine Duffy said in a new video.

She also said no decision has yet been made on the need for vaccinations and hopes cruises to the United States can resume by summer.

At Carnival Cruise Line, we have no current plans to move our ships from their home port in the United States, she said. I’ve always said that Carnival Cruise Line is America’s cruise line. We sail from 14 U.S. home ports, 50 percent of our itineraries are shorter than seven days, and a significant number of our customers cruise with Carnival. We also sail with more families and children than any other cruise line, and as you know, vaccines are still not allowed for those under 16.

Instead, Carnival is counting on a revival in the United States.

As more Americans get vaccinated, we are in the process of deciding whether to resume shipments from our U.S. home ports, in line with the expected return of other types of travel for the summer, but with the promise that all Americans who want to get vaccinated will have access to the vaccine by the end of May, she said. We are optimistic that travel will resume by summer.

Then she is talking about the same thing as many others.

Current trend

If it’s safe to fly, stay at a hotel or resort or visit an amusement park, it’s safe to travel by boat because of the extra health and safety protocols we have in place, Duffy said. We are all very much looking forward to getting back on the water in due course, and hopefully from the US.

The video was posted on the Facebook page of Adolfo Perez, senior vice president of Carnival’s global sales and trade marketing. Many travel consultants have posted their responses.

Thank you for posting this article, an agent wrote. This is encouraging news, especially for those who, for whatever reason, are not receiving the vaccine. I hope their final decision will be not to sanction him after sailing resumes. Many people do not want to be vaccinated for medical or religious reasons.

Another message: We have rebooked three times and also booked a family reunion in November! We’re ready. Some family members are already vaccinated and others have said they would cancel if the vaccine was mandatory! Keep your fingers crossed! I’m an assistant so no recording would be better for my committee LOL.

Another travel agent suggested his idea.

There will always be a debate about whether the vaccine is mandatory or not. For cruises, this should not be mandatory, but left to the discretion of the person seeking additional protection during the cruise. But ANYONE who decides to take a cruise should be able to do so. If you have been vaccinated, you must show proof of vaccination when boarding. Otherwise, cruise lines should ask passengers to provide a current negative PCR-COVID test result within 24 hours to five days before the cruise date. Rapid tests are not allowed because they are not reliable. Cruise routes should require one or the other, but not both. Children under the age of 16 should probably be excluded. That’s just my opinion.
