Carnival Cruise Line has announced a new roller coaster for the Mardi Gras Carnival cruise that will make its debut on February 14th. The company says it’s been one of their most requested features and is sure to be “a thrill ride.”

The “carnival mardi gras excel suite perks” is a feature that has been voted as the best cruise ship feature. The roller coaster, which was made by BOLT, will make your experience on the Carnival Mardi Gras the best it can be.

Carnival's Mardi Gras BOLT Roller Coaster is Voted Best Cruise Ship Feature

The Carnival cruise ship received the most votes in Best Cruise Ship Feature of 2021 with the BOLT roller coaster in the Annual Cruise Ship Awards, and we’ve previously revealed that Mardi Gras won Best New Cruise Ship of 2021.

Best Cruise Ship Feature Goes to the First Roller Coaster at Sea!

The BOLT roller coaster on Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras has been named Best Cruise Ship Feature of 2021. BOLT is the first roller coaster at sea aboard Carnival’s new Excel-class cruise ship, so it’s no surprise that the inventive new feature has gotten a lot of attention throughout the year.

Best Cruise Ship Feature

Since the Cruise Cruise Ship Awards began in mid-September 2021, BOLT has garnered more votes than any other cruise ship video. Readers of Cruise Hive were only permitted to vote once in each category, and votes that were suspicious or repeated were not counted.

The Mardi Gras roller coaster was one of the most anticipated new cruise ship additions in recent years, and thanks to Maurer Rides in Germany, it became a reality. The 220-meter track is 150 meters above sea level and placed near the ship’s rear. BOLT can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h and has exhilarating twists and turns, including one that takes you around the famous Carnival funnel.

The first roller coaster at sea, which launched with visitors from Port Canaveral on July 31, has been a popular attraction aboard Mardi Gras. The LNG-powered ship has a gross tonnage of 180,800, and a sister ship, Carnival Celebration, will join the fleet in 2022, with a roller coaster as well. In 2023, a third ship in the same class, the Carnival Jubilee, will debut.

Which of the features came in second and third place?

The BOLT roller coaster was pitted against hundreds of other cruise ship attractions, with readers being able to vote for their favorite.

Second place went to the SkyRide feature available on Carnival Cruise Line’s Vista-class cruise ships. At 150 feet above sea level, visitors may bike up to 18 miles per hour on an elevated 800-foot-long track on the open deck. In 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, SkyRide was named Best Cruise Ship Feature for the fourth time.

Carnival Horizon SkyRide

The Norwegian Cruise Line’s Go-Kart track, which can be found on all Breakaway-Plus class cruise ships save the Norwegian Escape, came in third place. The first go-kart track at sea was inaugurated on the Norwegian Joy in 2017, and it has since been added to Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Encore, making it the biggest in the fleet thus far. The new Norwegian Prima, which will enter the fleet in 2022, will take things a step further by becoming the first ship to include a three-level racetrack.

There were seven categories in this year’s Cruise Ship Awards, and the winners for Best Cruise Homeport in the United States and Best News Cruise Ship have already been declared. In the next days, more findings will be made public.
