The new Celebrity Beyond has been delivered to Celebrity Cruises. The historic event not only welcomes the cruise line’s fifteenth ship to the fleet, but it also marks a welcome return to post-pandemic normality as the first in-person celebration since the industry’s closure.
Celebrity Goes Above and Beyond
Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, as well as other Royal Caribbean Group executives, honored thousands of engineers, architects, designers, contractors, shipyard employees, and Celebrity Cruises teams during the April 6, 2022, ceremony as the brand took delivery of Celebrity Beyond, the third and most luxurious ship in the fleet’s Edge-class of vessels.
“We believe that Beyond speaks to the growing trend of people seeking new luxury experiences that are personalized, effortless, and meaningful,” Lutoff-Perlo said. “With its innovative offerings that go far beyond expectations from some of today’s most talented designers, artists, and creative minds, we believe that Beyond speaks to the growing trend of people seeking new luxury experiences that are personalized, effortless, and meaningful.”

As they formally received possession from the shipyard, Lutoff-Perlo was accompanied by Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty and the ship’s skipper, Kate McCue. Onboard Celebrity Beyond, which was parked at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, the occasion included the usual changing of the flags and a festive ceremony.
“Today’s release of Celebrity Beyond demonstrates our dedication to development and innovation; today, we celebrate the future of travel and its possibilities,” Liberty stated.
“On this long-awaited day, this beautiful ship symbolizes our commitment to investing in the future of both the tourism industry and the shipbuilding sector in Europe,” he remarked.
“We are grateful to everyone who has contributed their time, resources, creativity, and loyalty, including the Chantiers de l’Atlantique team, our own Newbuild and Celebrity Cruises teams, our loyal guests and trade partners, and everyone who has contributed their time, resources, creativity, and loyalty.” We’re excited for what’s to come as the travel industry reaches new heights.”
The First Ceremony After the Shutdown
Since the industry closure started in March 2020, the delivery of Celebrity Beyond is the first in person, physical delivery of a new ship from the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard to any cruise line.
While cruise ships have continued to be built and delivered, events have been canceled owing to social distance and travel restrictions in order to keep everyone safe.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to formally welcome Celebrity Beyond into our fleet with the first physical delivery since the pandemic, celebrating this historic milestone with our great crew and colleagues at Chantiers de l’Atlantique,” Lutoff-Perlo stated.
These face-to-face interactions are what fuel the tourism business, and bringing everyone involved in the planning, design, and building of a new cruise ship together is a satisfying and unforgettable event.
“Celebrity Beyond is a whole different vessel. “We worked hard to accomplish this outcome, even throughout the epidemic, in a spirit of great teamwork,” remarked Laurent Castaing, General Manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique. “Celebrity Beyond is a one-of-a-kind vessel that will be remembered.”
A Cutting-Edge New Ship That Goes Above and Beyond
The Celebrity Beyond is expected to provide many guests with unforgettable experiences. The vessel has new dining choices, such as the Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud trademark restaurant and a two-story Sunset Bar on the rear of the ship, as the newest ship in the revolutionary Edge class.
The ship’s well-known public areas have been enhanced and reinvented, presenting fleet favorites to passengers in new, opulent ways.

There are 17 spacious decks, a Sundeck that is 40% bigger than on previous ships, an enlarged Rooftop Garden, and the return of the Magic Carpet, a cantilevered platform 13 storeys above the sea that offers passengers unobstructed views while sipping drinks, dining, or listening to live music.
Celebrity Beyond is the biggest ship ever built for Celebrity Cruises, measuring 1,073 feet long and 128 feet wide and weighing 140,600 gross tons. The ship can accommodate 3,260 passengers in double occupancy and has over 1,400 crew members to provide exceptional, luxury service.
The ship’s inaugural trip will leave Southampton, England, on April 27 for a 10-night Western Europe cruise that will include stops in Bordeaux, Lisbon, Seville, Palma de Mallorca, and Barcelona, among other European destinations.
The Celebrity Beyond will then cruise until early October on a range of Mediterranean itineraries, including the Italian Riviera, France, and the Greek Isles, before traveling to the Caribbean for the winter season.
Celebrity Cruises has taken delivery of their third Edge-class vessel. The new ship is named the “Celebrity Eclipse”. Reference: cruise news updates.
