A group of Travel Quest Network agents embarked on Celestyal Crystal’s seven-night itinerary roundtrip from Athens on July 3 and was followed by a group of KHM Travel Group advisers on the July 10 voyage.
“We felt it was critical to get agents back on board so they could spread the word that it’s safe to visit and cruise in Greece again,” said Gordon Dirker, Celestyal’s vice president of business development.
According to him, the line’s three business development managers in the east-central and west areas of the United States have been reaching out to travel advisers.
Celestyal, which charges a 12 percent base fee and also pays a 12 percent commission on shore excursions, is seeing a gradual but consistent rise in business.
“We’re still rebuilding this year,” Dirker remarked. “Now that Greece has been open since May, there is a lot of last-minute effort to promote business.”

He predicted that once the company’s tour partners, which include firms like Globus, Insight, Trafalgar, Gate 1 and Avanti, who bundle shorter cruise components with tour programs, start operations later this year, revenue would pick up significantly.
What’s Hot Right Now
The Celestyal Crystal, a 1,200-passenger ship, is now sailing seven-night “Idyllic Aegean” itineraries that include stops at Patmos, Rhodes, Santorini, Lavrion, Mykonos, Milos, and Crete.
The Celestyal Olympia, a 1,664-passenger ship, began operation on June 28 with a new “Legendary Archipelago” itinerary that included stops in Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Santorini, Agios Nikolaos and Rhodes, and Limassol, Cyprus.
Celestyal Experience, previously Costa Cruises’ Costa neoRomantica, will debut on routes presently available onboard Celestyal Crystal in March.
Celestyal cruises, according to Dirker, are excellent for tourists seeking destination-intensive itineraries.
He advised travel advisers to “find out if they are travelers or cruisers” while evaluating their customers, adding that Celestyal Cruises’ greatest selling feature is its immersive, destination-intensive itineraries.
He said, “We are a cruise company, but the location is the hero.”
Seri, a leading brands and suppliers of vacation and travel packages with offices in 55 countries, has recently announced a new partnership with travel agents, which will provide them with exclusive access to Celestyal’s VIP clients and VIP services. Beginning in 2015, travel agents will be able to offer their clients the chance to custom-tailor their vacation packages and booking services..
