Chase just increased the sign up bonus for their IHG Rewards Credit Card to 60,000 points after you spend $1,000 within the first three months of account opening. That’s a $600 (60,000/12,000) value. Do I have your attention yet? It gets better. For a limited time, Chase will also give you a $50 statement credit when you make your first purchase with the card. This means that you can earn $650 (60,000 + $50) after you meet the minimum spending requirements. While this is a limited time offer, I’m willing to bet that Chase will end up making this offer permanent at some point.
Chase just announced an increase in the sign-up bonus on the IHG Rewards Club Select credit card that it recently acquired from Barclays, from 60,000 to 75,000 points for a limited time. While this is the best offer available, the card itself is only average, since it earns just two points per dollar on purchases at IHG hotels, and only one point per dollar on everything else. The main reason to get this card is because of the annual free night certificate you get after you spend $15,000 in purchases on the card in a calendar year.
Chase increases its offer for the IHG Rewards card

I am rewarded for the content and the many links on this blog. Citibank is an advertising partner of this site, as are American Express, Chase, Barclays and Capital One. All opinions expressed in this article are my own and have not been reviewed, approved or endorsed by my advertisers. I’m not going to tell you about all the credit cards out there. Instead, I’m going to focus on miles, points and cashback (and the currency that can be converted into them). The terms and conditions apply to the offers and benefits listed on this page.
IHG recently increased the value of points for many hotels, but fittingly with that, Chase also increased the initial bonus offer for the IHG® Rewards Club Premier credit card.
Chase has launched an offer that allows you to earn 125,000 bonus points and Reward Night (worth up to 40,000 points) when you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first three months after opening the account. This brings the value of this offer to 165,000 points, which is more than what was previously offered on this card.
A reader recently asked me if changes in hotel rates affected my opinion of this card, but they did not, as it is a card worth considering for the upfront bonus and savings for ongoing benefits like Platinum status and 4th night free on redemption stays. That card wasn’t the best for everyday spending anyway, and that hasn’t changed.
Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur
The deck contains:
- Platinum status
- A reward for one night after each birthday account at eligible IHG hotels worldwide.
- Price per night for stays of 4 nights or more. That’s better than the 5 free nights from other chains, and it’s equivalent to 25% off prime accommodation for four nights.
- Also Global Entry or TSA Precheck payment credits (up to $100 every 4 years).
IHG Rewards Club bonus points can be used for stays at InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Kimpton, Holiday Inn, Indigo and related brands.
The card is worth buying for the initial bonus. It’s worth checking them out before the 4th. Night to keep when using points, and for the annual bonus night, which is worth much more than the $89 annual card cost.
My anecdotal feeling is that this is one of the easiest Chase cards to get travel rewards on, although it is now subject to the 5/24 rule. So if you have opened less than 5 new cards in the last 24 months, you should definitely consider this card.

The IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card from Chase offers 60,000 bonus points (good for 6 free nights at any IHG property) and a $50 statement credit after your first purchase. The IHG Rewards Club Premier card from Chase offers 80,000 bonus points (good for 8 free nights at any IHG property) and a $50 statement credit after your first purchase. How do I increase my IHG points?
There are a couple of different ways to increase the amount of IHG bonus points you earn every time you stay at an IHG hotel. By combining a few of these methods, you can increase your IHG points significantly. The first way to increase your IHG points is to sign up for the IHG Rewards Club credit card. This card offers up to 10,000 bonus points every year, and up to 100 points per stay. Another way to earn more IHG points is to stay at an IHG hotel during an event they are hosting, such as PointBreaks. Frequent travelers all have their own favorite airline and hotel points programs. While it may be tempting to stick with a program you know and love, there may be a credit card offer that can help you earn points quicker or more easily. The IHG Rewards Club card is one of the most popular travel credit cards out there, for instance, because it offers IHG points on all purchases. The IHG Rewards Club also offers perks, like free nights and 2,000 IHG points for every $1,000 spent on the card.
