A Florida law prohibiting unvaccinated children from boarding a cruise ship in the state is being challenged by Royal Caribbean. The company argues that it should be allowed to continue to operate its ships in Florida because it complied with the state’s vaccine requirements when the law was passed.

The cruise ship covid outbreak 2021 is a problem that has been plaguing cruise lines for a while. Florida’s vaccine passport ban may have been violated by some cruise lines.

The state of Florida’s Department of Health has published a list of companies that may have violated the laws when it comes to seeking evidence of immunization for the so-called vaccine passport.

Cruise Lines Could Face Penalties

Three cruise companies may face legal issues as a result of Florida’s vaccination passport prohibition. According to the Orlando Sentinal, the Florida Department of Health has published a list of 120 companies in Florida that may have violated the vaccination passport legislation.

These instances, which involve three cruise lines, are now being investigated. Because they run cruise ships that leave from Florida, Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, and Disney Cruise Line are all on the list. PortMiami, Port Canaveral, Port Everglades, and Port of West Palm Beach are the four homeports for cruise liners in Florida.

In May 2021, Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation prohibiting the use of vaccination passports in Florida, a month after the emergency order was issued. This implies that no company in the state may ask a customer to produce evidence of vaccination.

If a business does request evidence, a punishment of up to $5,000 per infraction may be imposed, which could add up quickly depending on the number of individuals involved.

Since the prohibition on vaccine passports went into effect and cruise ships resumed service from Florida, cruise guests have been able to demonstrate their vaccination status freely.

Guests who do not demonstrate that they are completely vaccinated may not be permitted aboard or follow sticker procedures throughout the trip, depending on the cruise company.

Complying with Florida’s vaccination passport legislation hasn’t always been easy, particularly when it comes to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. The cruise line was given a preliminary injunction on August 8, enabling it to depart from Florida with 100% vaccinated guests and staff members. Florida, on the other hand, filed an appeal of the injunction with the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in early October.

The Conditional Sailing Order, which went into effect in 2020, has undergone significant modifications as well. Florida has been in court with both Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and has won both cases.

In Florida, the sail order is now just a suggestion, although cruise companies still opt to adhere to the rules and regulations.
