The Carnival Paradise, a floating hotel that once sailed between the Caribbean and Alaska, is now sailing with an Asian cruise line. The ship, which is now sailing with Chinese cruise line, is called the Century Legend. The ship has been renamed the Century Legend, and is now sailing with Chinese cruise line, according to the company. Carnival Cruise Lines, the operator of the ship, is owned by Carnival Corporation & plc, which is based in Ireland.
Carnival Corporation announced that it has signed an agreement with the China-based cruise operator, DFDS, to provide its passengers with a new choice in overseas cruises. The Carnival Vista, Carnival’s newest ship, will be sailing with DFDS on an itinerary that includes China, Europe, and the Middle East. Carnival Vista will provide guests with an all-new experience in luxury and convenience as it sails the world’s oceans.
The former Carnival Cruise Ship, now known as Carnival Legend, is now under the ownership of the Chinese Cruise Line. The ship will sail to Europe and Asia, and will also sail on cruises for the Costa Cruises. This is just another example of how the cruise industry has shifted from American owned lines to non-American owned lines. This has been going on for some time, but now the trend appears to be accelerating with more non-American owned cruise lines entering the market.. The former Carnival Fascination will be the first oceangoing ship for Century Cruises, a Chinese river cruise company.
The former Fascination, now known as Century Harmony, was launched at a Finnish shipyard in 1994 as the fourth of eight Fantasy-class ships for Carnival Cruise Line. The 70,637-gross-registered-ton ship can carry 2,634 passengers and 920 crew members.
Fascination spent much of her early sailing years in San Juan, Puerto Rico, sailing in the Caribbean all year.
After Hurricanes Irma and Maria wreaked havoc on the US Virgin Islands in 2017, Carnival Fascination spent four months on St. Croix housing humanitarian workers. She subsequently resumed Caribbean sailings from San Juan until being lay up in July 2020 owing to Carnival Cruise Line’s reduction in fleet capacity as a result of the worldwide pandemic.

Fascination has fared better than some of her sister ships. During the cruising epidemic halt, Carnival Corporation sold four Fantasy-class ships constructed in the 1990s to help it remain afloat. Three of them were destroyed in a scrapyard in Turkey: Fantasy, Imagination, and Inspiration.
Carnival reported in November 2020 that the ship had been sold to Century Cruises, which has been a significant participant in China’s Yangtze River cruise business since 1997.
Century Cruises stated in a statement that “ocean cruises have long been on our minds, having witnessed a large number of foreign cruise operators traveling through the ports of Shanghai, Shenzhen, Sanya, Tianjin, Hong Kong, and Macau.”
“Now, as China’s premier cruise line and having been “born and raised” in the nation, we can provide unique insights into this magnificent country based on our extensive knowledge and experience.”
Century Cruises has a fleet of nine river ships with passenger capacities ranging from 264 to 650.
At full capacity, Century Harmony nearly doubles the overall capacity of the Century Cruises fleet. It has a total of 1,026 cabins across 10 decks, including 54 suites, 98 balcony rooms, 564 oceanview staterooms, and 408 inside cabins in 26 cabin categories. Guests in extended balcony suites and grand suites will receive VIP services and have access to exclusive amenities.

Two major dining rooms, one buffet restaurant, a sushi bar, and six bars and lounges, including the Burger Joint and Poolside bars, are among the ship’s facilities. A massage and wellness area, a nine-hole mini-golf course, a basketball and volleyball court, and a variety of boutique stores are among the other amenities.
Century Cruises said, “After a long year of uncertainty in the cruise industry across the world, the new purchase is a signal to greater things to come.”
“We are delighted to offer a warm welcome to Century HARMONY, and we look forward to showcasing our renowned hospitality, thousand-year-old culture, one-of-a-kind experiences, world-class food, and diverse lodging options, which are at the heart of our business mission.”
