The not-so-well-kept secret of JetBlue Airways has been revealed.
The airline confirmed today what the majority of the industry already knew: new nonstop service between Boston Logan International Airport and London, England, would commence later this summer.
On July 19, 2022, JetBlue will begin flights from Logan to London-Gatwick Airport, followed by nonstop service between Boston and London-Heathrow Airport on August 22, 2022.
What’s Hot Right Now
Last year, JetBlue began trans-Atlantic service when it launched flights from New York to London.
“Our strategy of flying to both Heathrow and Gatwick Airports has proven successful for us in New York, and we’ve acquired slots to be able to do the same in Boston, making us the only airline in New England operating flights to London’s two major airports,” said Robin Hayes, JetBlue’s CEO. “Our London service has been a huge success so far, and we’ve been able to bring down costs on an usually pricey route thanks to our unmatched JetBlue service and experience — the JetBlue Effect in action.” As we advance our expansion goals in both Boston and London, we’re poised to do the same at Logan.”
London is the biggest nonstop market that JetBlue does not presently service from Boston, and it is one of the most popular destinations among JetBlue’s vast Boston customer base. JetBlue is now the sole airline flying between New England and London’s two biggest and busiest airports, Heathrow and Gatwick.
Flights between Gatwick and Heathrow will be available every day.
Seats on each of the new London services go on sale today. For U.S.-bound customers traveling to Gatwick, introductory roundtrip rates start at $499 for JetBlue’s award-winning core experience and $1,949 for JetBlue’s premium Mint experience. Core prices to Heathrow start at $549, while Mint fares start at $1,999. These United States point-of-sale rates are exclusively available on jetblue.com.
“We are delighted to learn about JetBlue’s further growth into London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports with service from Boston,” said Gavin Landry, executive vice president, The Americas, for VisitBritain, England’s tourist arm. “With international travel on the upswing and all travel restrictions to Britain lifted, we know tourists from all across the United States are ready to return to Britain and see what awaits them. Now, with JetBlue’s new flights and VisitBritain’s welcoming and reassuring messages, it’s time to tell the tales of Another Side of Britain, which includes our lively and varied cities, famous history, modern culture, and so much more.”
