Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Group’s Cruise Division, stated:

“For the last 35 years, MSC Group has been a significant economic partner for the United States, thanks to its increasing position as one of the world’s top container shipping companies as well as cargo and passenger terminal operators. Miami has long been a major hub in this regard, and the new MSC Terminal at PortMiami strengthens our entire presence in this vital maritime hub.“

The new cruise terminal would serve up to 36,000 passengers per day and will be a hub for operations originating in the United States. Three of MSC’s newest and biggest cruise ships, including the forthcoming MSC Seashore and LNG-powered World-class ships, will be able to dock at the terminal at the same time.

There will be sophisticated amenities and even office spaces for cruise guests at the port. A new road link will provide convenient access to the multi-level car park, which will accommodate at least 2,400 cars.

MSC and Fincantieri are collaborating on the building of two docks with a total length of 2,461 feet. Miami-Dade will also construct a third berth, bringing the total number of boats to three.

Vago had this to say:

“Thanks to Fincantieri’s Italian flare, which will surely be evident in this project, as it is in many of our ships, this new state-of-the-art terminal will become a Miami landmark of elegance and comfort for passengers traveling through what is known as the world’s cruise capital. It will also act as a platform to promote and maintain our Cruise Division’s growth throughout the area and in the Caribbean for many years to come. It will also enable us to deploy some of our most contemporary and ecologically friendly boats there, demonstrating our commitment to the local market, our trade partners, and visitors, in conjunction with our previous investments in the United States.”

The vistas of PortMiami are changing, with the construction of Royal Caribbean’s biggest cruise terminal in North America and Norwegian Cruise Line’s new modern terminal in recent years. Virgin Voyages is presently building a new terminal, while Carnival Cruise Line is renovating Terminal F.
