Despite these dismal figures, there is hope for the future. Guests are booking rooms earlier than usual, but total booking volume in the first quarter of this year was double that of the last quarter of 2020. NCLH sold $1.3 billion worth of tickets in presales in the first quarter, indicating a return to planning for future cruises, even if the cruises themselves are on the back burner.

The 6th. In April, NCLH announced the resumption of cruises. The first NCL cruise will take place on the 25th. July 2021 with a cruise to the Greek islands from Athens. Caribbean routes begin on the 7th. August departing from Montego Bay, Jamaica. Oceania Cruises begins its cruises on August 29 in Copenhagen, while Regent Seven Seas Cruises returns to Copenhagen on August 11. September of Great Britain.

In addition, at 5. April petitioned the CDC to allow cruises to resume sailing from U.S. ports beginning July 4 and to request that the CDC lift the Conditional Sailing Order (CSO). The plan includes SailSAFE’s rigorous health and safety program, which requires all crew members and guests to be fully vaccinated before going to sea.

More than a year after the initial global suspension of cruises, we are pleased to announce the Great Return of Cruises program, beginning with travel from international ports. Our teams worked tirelessly and enlisted the help of leading scientific and public health experts to develop our robust, science-based SailSAFETM health and safety program, which combines mandatory vaccinations for all guests and crew members with rigorous preventative measures, including universal testing for COVID-19, said Frank Del Rio, NCLH President and CEO.

With our SailSAFE program, we believe we can provide a unique, safe and healthy experience that surpasses any other vacation option on land or at sea. Regarding the resumption of cruises from the U.S., we are still in discussions with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Our team is working on a recently released and amended technical guide that requires additional clarification on how the inclusion of vaccination requirements will affect the parole order and our next steps, Del Rio added.
