American Airlines and Hyatt have announced a new partnership that will give elite status to millions of frequent fliers. Starting in July, elite members of Hyatt Gold Passport and American Airlines’ AAdvantage frequent flyer program can earn Silver Elite status with their frequent flier loyalty program, and Hyatt Gold Passport members can earn Platinum Elite status.

The New American Airlines and Hyatt are doing something special for their members. They are offering elite status members free upgrades to the next class of service.

New elite fast-track programs from American Airlines and Hyatt

Gary Leff 13. July 2021

Hyatt and American Airlines have new offers to accelerate elite status for current members of another program. Hyatt even offers free temporary status while you work on your challenge. However, they’re not super easy or the best way, from an American perspective, to achieve the status we’ve seen on the market.

Hyatt Elites receive accelerated status in the U.S.

All Hyatt Elite members (including Discoverists) have until the 30th to apply. September to apply for American Airlines elite status. If you complete the required AAdvantage actions within three months of your enrollment, your status is assured until January 2023. Requirements depend on your current AAdvantage Elite level (if applicable). Only flights sold and operated by American Airlines (no codeshare or partner flights).

American Airlines has already lowered the status requirements in 2021 and then introduced three promotions so existing elites can keep their status. This summer, even current members without status can earn 250 bonus miles per segment (up to 10 segments).

American has even introduced two new ways for existing elite members to maintain their status next year: $2,000 spent on airline services this fall or $15,000 spent on co-branded credit cards within four months.

Right now, all existing elites who want to keep their status should be able to do so. And American offers its members free status with offers that are in some ways better than this one (with a free upgrade as a bonus).

U.S. elites get expedited access to Hyattstatus

American Airlines elite members (including Golds) have until the 30th to sign up. September to sign up for a 90-day trial of Hyatt Explorist status. Thereafter, eligible activities during those 90 days qualify for explorer or globalist status until February 2023.

  • 10 overnight stays in 90 days receive Explorer status
  • 20 nights for 90 days gives Globalist status

Explorer status requires only 15 nights this year and globalist status requires only 30 nights for a full year. The standard requirements have been cut in half, so the chances of achieving mid-level Hyatt status as you work towards it are greater than the reduced requirements.

Since many Hyatt benefits are based on the number of nights spent rather than the number of levels earned, elite members who earn status under the program (or even lowered status requirements in 2021) may be surprised that they don’t get certain benefits, such as. B. A confirmed room upgrade or Hyatt’s concierge services.

Strategic game with this set

Hyatt and American accounts must be linked before you can sign up for any of the promotions. This allows both programs to see your existing status and other activity (and allows eligible members to earn American miles when staying at Hyatt – in addition to Hyatt points – and earn Hyatt points when traveling on American Airlines, in addition to AAdvantage miles).

You need to be strategic when you register, because that’s when the 90-day countdown to status activities for the 2022 program year begins. In other words: You want to wait until you have an activity that qualifies (but not so long that you forget to sign up on time!).

American’s relationship with Hyatt is beneficial to members

This is one of the best new perks I’ve seen in a long time, because it means more points for many and it doesn’t mean any perks are being dropped. The partnership between American and Hyatt is great because.
