It looks like Celebrity Cruises is looking to kick off the summer cruise season in a big way. Today the cruise line announced a second port of call for its newest ship, Celebrity Apex, with cruises departing from Greece.

This announcement comes just days after Celebrity Cruises announced the Celebrity Millennium will sail from St. Louis. Meanwhile, Royal Caribbean has announced that it will sail the Jewel of the Seas from Cyprus.

According to Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, the new Celebrity Apex is the second stunning ship in the award-winning Edge Series, which was launched this summer in celebration of Celebrity Cruises’ 19th anniversary. June in Greece.

A return to Greece

The ship’s home port in Greece marks a return to the country for the company, which has been operating in the country since 1988.  The ship will sail under the same strict protocols as Royal Caribbean’s newest ship Odyssey of the Seas in the same region. All guests must be fully vaccinated if over the age of 18, while guests under 18 must provide a negative PCR test.

Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo said in a press release on the company’s website:

Celebrity Apex is such a beautiful ship, and the fact that she is finally going to sea after such a long journey in the beautiful Aegean Sea, where it all began for our fleet, is incredibly meaningful. Looking forward to finally experiencing Apex and the Greek Islands in September on my 30th wedding anniversary cruise.

This is a very special return for famous cruises, made possible by the strong cooperation of the Greek government. I thank them and wish them well as they celebrate their country’s bicentenary today.
