The norwegian cruise line news is a story about the maiden call of the Norwegian Cruise Ship in Alaska. This was their first come back sailing to America since they were forced to stop due to financial troubles.

Norwegian Encore, the first cruise ship from Norwegian Cruise Line to set sail in the United States, has arrived in Alaska. Locals greeted visitors to Icy Strait Point yesterday after the ship departed Seattle’s ports on August 7.

Norwegian Cruise Line has a unique connection to the port since the business has made substantial investments in Alaska, namely Icy Strait Point. The new Wilderness Landing Pier and Gondola System was first experienced by guests aboard Norwegian Encore.

Icy Strait Point’s First Call

Icy Strait Point gives visitors the opportunity to explore a temperate rainforest and experience genuine Alaska, in addition to its wide open beaches. On the island, you may also find the world’s biggest ZipRider zip line, the finest beach viewing platforms for brown bears in Southeast Alaska, kayaking, and whale watching. Icy Strait Point is a mile from Hoonah, an Alaskan Native village where visitors may learn about indigenous customs, dances, oral histories, and culinary courses.

It’s an ideal location for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings to invest in the future of cruising in Alaska, ensuring that local native communities and people benefit from cruise ship arrivals. Officials from Norwegian Cruise Line and Icy Strait Point were on hand to celebrate the completion of the Wilderness Landing pier and the first of two gondola systems as part of NCLH and Huna Totem’s joint investment.

Icy Strait Point is a subsidiary of the Huna Totem Corporation, an Alaska Native-owned and managed business that donates 100% of its earnings to the local community.

“Our return to Alaska is a momentous event for not just NCL but also for the state’s communities,” says Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line. Last year, these towns suffered a $1.5 billion loss as a result of the lack of cruising. Our return demonstrates our ongoing dedication to Alaska and the well-being of the places we visit. Our investment in Icy Strait Point gives our visitors additional chances to experience and appreciate the destination’s natural and cultural splendor, as well as the people who live there.”

The Wilderness Landing offers visitors additional options to explore the area, while the new gondola system gives convenient access to Adventure Landing, Icy Strait Point’s first pier. Toward the end of the year, a second gondola system will be operational, enabling visitors to reach Hoonah Mountain at 1,600 feet elevation, where miles of new hiking routes and beautiful views await.

Icy Strait Point is an excellent illustration of how cruise tourism and environmental sustainability can coexist. Huna Totem Corporation’s chief executive officer, Russell Dick:

“Since the beginning of Icy Strait Point, we’ve worked hard to strike a balance between the requirements of our Alaska Native community and the demands of Alaska’s expanding cruise industry, and this expansion was a logical next step for us. We are thankful to Norwegian for believing in our vision, and we believe that our long-term strategy will pave the way for good growth in Alaska’s cruise tourist industry.”

Florida, on the other hand, is presently appealing the decision.

Whatever happens in Florida, delighted passengers will continue to enjoy voyages aboard Norwegian Encore as they explore Alaska’s untamed environment and animals.
