The Norwegian Escape will return to service this week, after being given a complete overhaul following an engine failure that caused it to drift in the Atlantic Ocean for more than two weeks. The ship was carrying 454 passengers and 422 crew members when it lost power on November 13th while cruising through rough weather, which led some passengers to be evacuated by helicopter.
The “ncl cancelled cruises 2022” is a Norwegian Cruise Line that has been canceled. It will not be operating in Europe until 2020.
This year, Norwegian Jade was the first Norwegian Cruise Line cruise ship to set sail for the Mediterranean. The ship traveled from Civitavecchia, Italy, to start off Norwegian Cruise Line’s European season.
Before repositioning to Pireaus, Greece, the Norwegian Trip Line ship will sail one cruise from the Italian cruise capital. Norwegian Jade was the first ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet to begin sailings in 2021.

Even if much of Europe is still experiencing chilly spells, there is no excuse to postpone cruises. As a result, Norwegian Jade was the first Norwegian Cruise Line ship to resume service in the Mediterranean.

The cruise ship set off from Civitavecchia, Italy’s cruise center and a port near to Rome, on a 9-night Greek Isles trip that included stops in Palermo, Sicily; Valetta, Malta’s gorgeous and medieval capital; Santorini and Rhodes, Greece; Kusadasi and Istanbul, Turkey; and Mykonos, Greece. On April 8, the Norwegian Jade will end her inaugural trip at Piraeus, Greece.
On April 8, Norwegian Jade will sail a second 9-day voyage that will call in Greece, Turkey, Israel & Cyprus.
The Norwegian cruise ship will depart Pireaus on a series of 7-night voyages beginning April 17, with stops in Turkey, Israel, and Greece, including visits to Ephesus, Ashdod, and Haifa, as well as ports in Greece such as Santorini, Patmos, and Mykonos.
The season for Norwegian Jade in the eastern Mediterranean will extend until the end of November 2022. The ship will next go on an epic 18-day trip down the East African coastline, eventually arriving in Cape Town, South Africa.
Norwegian Jade Takes the Lead Once More
This isn’t the first time Norwegian Jade has been the first ship in the fleet to reach Europe. The 93,558 gross-ton cruise ship was the first in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet to resume trips following the worldwide stop in operations last year.

The Norwegian Jade set off from Pireaus on July 26, 2021, marking the first time in 500 days that a Norwegian Cruise Line ship has sailed with guests.
“We are pleased to begin on the Great Cruise Comeback with a brand-new itinerary and homeport for our brand, providing our passengers an even larger range of distinctive holidays at sea,” stated Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian at the time.
Although Norwegian has made significant progress toward its aim of having all ships operating by the summer of 2022, the great cruise comeback is still underway. For the time being, just four ships remain:
- Beginning April 3, 2022, Norwegian Star will fly from Barcelona, Spain.
- From Honolulu, Hawai’i, Pride of America will depart on April 9, 2022.
- Beginning May 5, 2022, Norwegian Sun will operate out of Seattle, Washington.
- Starting May 7, 2022, Norwegian Spirit will depart from Papeete, Tahiti.
It’s a commendable effort from a cruise line that has been careful and unwavering in its response to the epidemic over the previous two years. So far, it seems that Harry Sommer’s and NCLH CEO Frank De Rio’s ideas have worked out successfully.
