Norwegian Cruise Line has ended its cruise as a precaution after a passenger on board the Norwegian Escape reported feeling unwell.

The Gem’s intended 10-night cruise has been shortened by Norwegian Cruise Line. While the trip will return to New York City on the planned day, the ship will not visit the scheduled ports.
Guests aboard Norwegian Gem received a note from the captain in their rooms on Thursday. “As a consequence of COVID-related issues,” it said, “we must cancel the rest” of the trip.

The ship sailed Friday morning after spending Thursday night at St. Maarten and started the trek back to New York. Rather from making stops at Tortola, Turks & Caicos, and St. Thomas, the ship will stay at sea on its way back to Manhattan.
Passengers will get a full refund of their cruise cost to their original payment method. Those who purchased with a future cruise credit will have their credit refunded in full to their Latitudes account.
Passengers got a $100 onboard credit per stateroom in addition to the reimbursement, as well as a 50% future cruise credit good for sailings until May 31, 2023.
The next sailing for Gem has not been affected as of the time of publishing, and is still set to depart on January 19.
Breakaway Sailings in Norway Have Been Cancelled
Guests registered aboard the Norwegian Breakaway received an email on Thursday informing them that the ship’s sailings from New Orleans had been canceled until January 23, 2022. The cancellations were likewise attributed to “COVID-related factors” in this example.
Breakaway is now on a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise, including stops in Cozumel, Roatán, Costa Maya, and Harvest Caye. On Sunday, it is slated to return to New Orleans.

- Norwegian Star will operate till March 19, 2022.
- Norwegian Sun will be available till April 19, 2022.
- Norwegian Spirit will be available till April 23, 2022.
Those who have an active reservation on one of the above-mentioned voyages will get a refund as well as a future cruise credit valid until January 7, 2023 on any cruises departing between May 31 and January 7, 2023.
Guests who booked with a future cruise credit will get the credit’s full value refunded in their account.
