American cruise line Oceania recently announced that its two ships would undergo a major rest with the start of the summer 2021 schedule. The Oceania Marina and the Oceania Riviera will be overhauled to the same exacting standards as the Oceania Nautica, Oceania Regatta, and the Oceania Insignia. The overhauls will affect nearly every aspect of the ships. Many common areas will be updated with new décor and furnishings. The restaurants will be completely revamped, with their menus getting a refresh. Most cabins will be refurbished to include new features, such as bathrooms with a new shower.

The Marina will sail from Barcelona, Spain, and calls on Cagliari, Calvi, Palma de Mallorca, Bonifacio, Ajaccio, Rome, and Naples. The Med itinerary will be repeated three times per season.

The first tour, which will take place from 29. August to 8. The month of September will last 10 nights and visit eight different countries, after starting in Copenhagen and ending in Stockholm, Sweden.
The entire Oceania Cruises team is eager to safely resume operations and welcome our guests back to explore the world, said Bob Binder, president and CEO of Oceania Cruises.
Staggered acquisition dates for the rest of the Oceania fleet will be announced in the near future. Itineraries are evaluated based on port availability and adjusted closer to departure dates if necessary.
New SailSAFE protocols
Oceania is gradually returning to service according to a sound, science-based return to service plan that protects the guests and crew on board and the residents of the communities the vessels serve.
The SailSAFE health and safety program creates multiple layers of protection and was developed under the guidance of a group of industry professionals, including the Healthy Sail Expert Group and the SailSAFE Global Health and Wellness Council.
At Oceania Cruises, health, well-being and safety come first. Our guests, our crew and of course the many wonderful and dedicated people who work with us in the places we visit are the lifeblood of our company, and we will do everything we can to ensure their health and safety, Binder said.
Some of Oceania’s SailSAFE protocols include:
- Vaccination is mandatory for all guests and crew members.
- Tests before planting and before use
- Step-by-step boarding and the new check-in system
- Reduced capacity on board
- Use of face masks indoors, except when eating and drinking or in the cabin.
- Improvement of sanitary facilities
- Improved air filter systems
These protocols are continuously developed and refined based on new scientific and technological developments.
