Oceania Cruises is the latest company to benefit from an increased demand for cruises following President Trump’s announcement that he would be instituting a travel ban on people coming into the United States. How will this affect Oceania and other cruise companies?
Oceania Cruises had one of its best booking days ever on Tuesday, with 11% more bookings than the average for this time of year. Read more in detail here: oceania cruises 2022.
When the new 2024 itineraries went on sale on May 4, 2022, no one could have predicted the massive reaction that would result in one of Oceania Cruises’ biggest booking days ever.
Every location and sailing experienced significant demand out of the more than 350 reservations opened that day, with one-third of the bookings coming from new-to-the-line passengers.
Exceptional Booking Response
The Oceania Cruises 2024 Collection features more than 350 distinct itineraries across the line’s 6-ship fleet, as well as the highly anticipated new ship Vista, which is set to debut in 2023. The collection includes journeys between October 2023 and December 2024.
“The 2024 Collection launch illustrates tremendous and continued strong demand for cruising in addition to highlighting the increased trend in planning travel farther out, both for past guests and new-to-brand guests,” said Howard Sherman, President & CEO of Oceania Cruises.

Booking cruises in advance – 18 months or more before embarking for this collection – provides customers more options for itinerary, stateroom selection, and budgeting, as well as more potential flexibility in case plans change in the months ahead.
For a small luxury company like Oceania Cruises, earlier planning is crucial in ensuring customers get the sailings they want.
Many new travelers, all cash bookings
All of the reservations made as a result of this overwhelming reaction for sailings in 2023 and 2024 are considered new cash bookings. This implies that these sailings will not be diluted or warped by Future Cruise Credits issued during the epidemic, which will most likely expire before these sailings commence and so will not be applicable to this set of itineraries.
Furthermore, one-third of all transactions are from passengers who have never sailed with Oceania Cruises but are drawn to the line’s distinctive destination-rich, skillfully tailored itineraries.

More intimate itineraries touching on more distinctive ports of call are feasible because to the line’s smaller ship capacities — the Oceania-class Marina and Riviera seat only 1,250 people at double occupancy.

One-third of the transactions on this record-breaking booking day involve several sailings, illustrating the line’s appeal among return passengers and seasoned cruisers.
The Most Popular Cruises
On May 4, the line’s 35-day tour of Australia, leaving December 21, 2023, was the most popular cruise, with more than 60% of the voyage’s capacity filled.
That one trip, onboard the 684-guest (double occupancy) Regatta, will stop in at an incredible 20 ports, including Townsville, Cairns, Broome, Adelaide, and Melbourne. Brisbane, Bali, and Perth all have overnight stops.
Asian cruises were the most popular, although itineraries through South America, Northern Europe, Africa, the South Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand all received a lot of attention.
Oceania Cruises provides cruises to places all over the world, including Greenland and Iceland, the Northern Fjords, the British Isles, the Mediterranean, the Holy Land, India, Tahiti, the Caribbean, South America, Canada, Alaska, the Panama Canal, and transatlantic sailings.
The line is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, which also owns Norwegian Cruise Line and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. It is known for its luxury details, designer-inspired decor, rich culinary experiences, and ability to visit more boutique ports of call unavailable to larger vessels.
