With the US still not allowing cruises to resume, Royal Caribbean continues to look for alternative home ports around the world. The cruise line will begin cruises from Limassol, Cyprus in July.

This follows other recently announced home ports outside the United States, including the Bahamas, Israel and Barbados, as well as St. St. Maarten for sister company Celebrity Cruises.

Another new home port for Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean will operate the Jewel of the Seas from the 10th. From July to October 2021 from Cyprus. The cruise line is expanding its offering in the Mediterranean. The ship is on a 7-night cruise, calling at Athens, Rhodes, Crete, Mykonos and Santorini.

Michael Bailey, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, said:

I am pleased to inform you that we have returned to Europe safely and well. We know how we want our customers to enjoy their holidays this summer, and these sailings, which include a mix of fantastic destinations and must-see islands, make for the perfect holiday.

Cyprus is a beautiful island and we are grateful to the Cypriot government for their support and enthusiasm in making these incredible trips possible.

Royal Caribbean has proven that cruises are safe, having already handled more than 50,000 passengers in Singapore on the Quantum of the Seas. Thanks to these trips, sanitary measures are already well used and tested. The cruise line is also working with Cyprus to ensure the safety of guests and crew.

Savvas Perdios, Assistant Minister for Tourism of Cyprus

We are pleased to announce that Royal Caribbean will make Limassol its home port for the first time. This has been our ambition for many years and we are delighted that this dream has finally come true. We are confident that Royal Caribbean’s presence in Limassol will be beneficial for Cyprus and we are also confident that Cyprus, as a home port and a country, will meet the expectations of Royal Caribbean and its guests.

This will be the first time Royal Caribbean has cruised in Europe since the end of its operations. Europe was one of the few regions that had already allowed the operation of cruise ships.

Costa Cruises and MSC Cruises have already left Italy. AIDA Cruises also offers cruises to Germany and the Canary Islands.

Also in the UK from 17. The month of May will resume. Many cruise lines have jumped on the bandwagon and are offering domestic cruises from Southampton. However, the United States remains very closed and Royal Caribbean is looking for alternative home ports.

There’s also the Jamaica Rumble and Cozumel will be a home port, so there may be other interesting announcements to come.
