Virgin Voyages, one of the newest cruise lines, has revealed the name of its next cruise ship. The third addition to the fleet is aptly named Resilient Lady.

The Lady Resilient will have her home port in Piraeus, Greece, where she will sail from the summer of 2022; her arrival is scheduled for 1. Delivery in July 2022. It will be the second ship in the fleet to sail in the Mediterranean. The sister ship Valiant Lady will also sail in the Mediterranean and is scheduled for delivery in July this year.

Growing fleet of female ships

Despite the difficulties in the world due to the ongoing pandemic, Virgin Voyages continues to move forward and plans to become a major player in the cruise segment.

By 2023, the company will have four ships, but no floating guests on board yet. The launch of the line’s first ship, Scarlet Lady, was scheduled just weeks after all major cruise lines began canceling sailings in 2020. Virgin Journeys had no choice but to go in the same direction.

That the company chose Resilient Lady as the name for its new lady seems appropriate given the circumstances. The company commented:

While this year has been full of setbacks and adjustments for all of us, it’s no secret that women have been challenged to advocate during the pandemic like never before.

The appearance of the Resilient Lady comes on International Women’s Day, which symbolizes the spirit of women’s ships and celebrates women and their achievements, strength, leadership and resilience. And like our future, Resilient Lady’s is bright – with plans to sail across Europe to some of the most incredible places in the world. Places we’ve dreamed about all year.

Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, commented on the release of Resilient Lady:

Sailing in the Mediterranean is an amazing experience and we are excited to bring the Maiden Adventure to this beautiful location. I am very proud of the incredible work the team has done to present Resilient Lady.
