Camera Obscura, open from 26. April!

Most of the attractions have announced their opening in Edinburgh. Scotland has introduced a COVID system and attractions in Edinburgh will open soon. Tickets for almost all attractions must be purchased in advance. Access limits are the new norm, with limited visitor numbers and social distancing measures. This means that you must book your tickets in advance.

Many of Edinburgh’s main attractions are now open to the public!

The Royal Yacht Britannia is available from 12. May 2021 open to the public. You can once again follow in the footsteps of the royal family by visiting this iconic ship. The Camera Obscura will be open from the 26th. April 2021 open to the public. Visitors will again see over 100 illusions and the best view of the city from the roof terrace! The attraction will only run at 30% of its normal capacity to allow for social distancing. Buying tickets >>

Day trips to Loch Ness from Edinburgh are now available from £1. May 2021 available. Try to find Nessie with a day trip to Scotland’s most famous loch. Buying tickets >>

More attractions open in Edinburgh

Edinburgh Castle is open from the 30th. Opening in April 2021 with new restrictions for visitor safety. You will also notice some changes related to the difficulty of maintaining social distance. Tickets must be purchased online and are in high demand.

The Scottish National Gallery is open from 6am. May 2021 open to the public and you can visit the transferred national collection using the free ticket system. Although some galleries will remain closed, works by Botticelli, Raphael, Titian, El Greco, Velázquez, Rembrandt, Vermeer, van Dyck and others will be on display.

The National Museum of Scotland is open from the 26th. April 2021 is back! This includes an exhibition about the treasures of the Viking Age, which will run until September 2021. Tickets must be reserved online.

The modern one will be the 16th. May 2021: reopening to the public. This museum houses Scotland’s collection of contemporary art.

Edinburgh Zoo has opened its doors to the public again. Once again, visitors can learn about this fantastic zoo, which is home to more than 1,000 rare and endangered animals.

Edinburgh’s Royal Botanic Gardens are open. You must reserve the time well in advance of your visit online.

Two more attractions will open in Edinburgh. The Scottish National Portrait Gallery (from 30 April) and Modern Two (from 26 April) reopen.

What is not open yet?

Although most of Edinburgh’s attractions are open to the public again, some are still closed. This also applies to the Children’s Museum, which will remain closed until further notice.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse has not announced a new opening date for the Queen’s official residence in Scotland. This follows the death of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. Buying tickets >>
