Divers in Dubai had been waiting for the moment to open a diving pool that’s over 3500 feet deep, which can be accessed by scuba. The new facility, called the Dubai Underwater Park, is located in the city’s tourism and entertainment district of the Dubai Marina, and its state-of-the-art pool—which is the deepest in the world—will be available for visitors to scuba dive. The pool is located in a man-made structure that is known as “The Lost City”, and it is said to have been the home of wealthy Arabs in Dubai many years ago. The diving pool has made its debut on the United Arab Emirates’ National Day, which is celebrated on December 2 each year. ~~

As the first of a series of planned underwater attractions in Dubai, the world’s deepest diving pool finally opened to the public this week in a bid to attract tourists to the city. The diving pool, filled with water at a depth of 75 metres, is located in the man-made Palm Jumeirah development, and is billed as the world’s deepest, allowing visitors to experience the sensation of being underwater for up to five minutes at a time.

Dubai has just opened a new aquatic adventure centre with the deepest pool in the world, where divers and snorkellers of all levels can learn or practice in unprecedented conditions.

Deep Dive Dubai, which has just opened, is now the world’s largest underwater attraction and has the deepest artificial diving pool in the world, as confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records.

Current trend

The impressive freshwater pool is a record 200 feet deep, contains approximately 3.7 million gallons of water – the equivalent of six Olympic-sized swimming pools – and is maintained at a comfortable temperature of 86 degrees. The pool also houses a sunken city, styled like an abandoned cityscape, including a sunken apartment, garage and arcade.

Paying homage to the rich history of pearl diving in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Deep Dive Dubai’s 16,000-square-foot building is built in the shape of a giant oyster and includes a dive shop, gift shop and an 80-seat restaurant set to open later this year, as well as several meeting, event and conference rooms. The ground floors of the restaurant will have large viewing areas so visitors can observe scuba diving.

Divers of all levels are invited to explore the underwater ruins through diving and snorkeling courses, workshops and excursions and enjoy the unique opportunity of an underwater adventure in a safe and controlled environment. Deep Dive Dubai’s instructor-led courses are divided into three categories – Discover, Dive and Develop – and are suitable for everyone from absolute beginners to experienced divers.

The unparalleled facility features world-class filtration systems that circulate pool water through volcanic silica rock every 6 hours, advanced filtration technology developed by NASA, and ultraviolet treatment.

Features of the giant pool include two underwater habitats with dry cameras at depths of six and 21 meters, a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system that creates a specific atmosphere, 164 lights throughout the pool and 56 underwater cameras that can capture underwater activity from all angles.

All courses and experiences include rental of top of the line equipment such as Halcyon, Scubapro and Fourth Element, provided by the Deep Dive Dubai team. Video and photo sessions are included in the Discovery dives, but a variety of underwater photo and video equipment can be rented in conjunction with other experiences.

At its core, Deep Dive Dubai truly offers something unique for everyone, and our team strives to provide everyone with an unforgettable experience and top service, always, says Deep Dive Dubai director and world record cave diver Jarrod Jablonski. For those looking for a unique experience, Deep Dive Dubai offers an exceptional, safe and supervised environment where you can learn all about diving. For experienced members of the freediving and scuba diving community, this is an unparalleled object and experience.

Deep Dive Dubai is currently open by invitation only, but the facility is expected to be open to the public by the end of July. It can host events for up to 100 people and on-site catering options make it the perfect venue for any event – from birthdays and weddings to film screenings and product launches.
